The Holy Trinity Church of the UOC in the village of Troitskoe, Lugansk region, which was built in 1840, is gradually being destroyed by constant shelling, reports the Kharkov human rights group on its Facebook page.

"This is one of the largest Orthodox churches in Lugansk region, which survived two wars – civil and World War II, as well as the Soviet power. Neither the German invaders nor the Communists could destroy it. And it is difficult to say whether the church survives this war," human rights activists emphasize.

As a result of shelling, the altar of the temple is completely destroyed, and the icons are cut by shrapnel. "Around the church, even now you can see a lot of shell craters. There are still holes in a roof of the stone structure made by direct "Grad" hits, Kharkov citizens indicate.

The church has been repeatedly shelled. In 2015, the building had several direct "Grad" hits.
