From December 9 to 11, priests from the Kyiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church conducted another humanitarian mission in the frontline areas of Donetsk Oblast, reports the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
During this trip, they visited three combat units near Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and Bakhmut, as well as towns and villages suffering from constant military action.
The priests noted that many of these towns and villages are under constant shelling, with no electricity, heating, or access to stores and pharmacies, making visits to these locations increasingly dangerous.
“There are numerous shell impacts. We can no longer enter some towns we used to visit,” they shared. Local residents received food packages, hygiene products, warm clothing, and medicine. Special attention was given to the Sviatohirsk Lavra and the Skete of Saint John of Shanghai in Adamivka, where refugees and the brotherhood were provided with food and medical supplies. Children residing in the Lavra received sweet gifts – over 100 gifts in total were delivered.
The priests also supported parishes in Kostiantynivka, where the rector of the Church of St. Job of Pochaiv was given a generator and food supplies. The community actively bakes bread and organizes charitable meals for those in need.
The mission included Archpriest Kostiantyn Dvorovyi, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Affairs, and Archpriest Andrii Dvorovyi, Chairman of the Social and Humanitarian Service Department of the Kyiv Eparchy. The total weight of the delivered aid was approximately 4 tons. The priests delivered energy supplies, food, medicine, and other necessities to support Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and local residents.
“We bow to our heroes because they are doing the most important thing – defending Ukraine, defending the lives of Ukrainians. Our assistance is an expression of love and gratitude from all compassionate hearts,” the volunteer priests noted.
As previously reported by the UOJ, soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces thanked the Khmelnytskyi Eparchy of the UOC for their humanitarian aid.
