Kostiantyn Bondarenko explained the consequences of the state’s policy regarding religion.

In an interview with the publication Imho, political analyst and historian Kostiantyn Bondarenko expressed concern over the dehumanization of society in Ukraine, particularly through the struggle against religion. In his view, the actions of the Ukrainian authorities are directed not only against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) but also against Christianity and Orthodoxy as a whole.

"Today, the authorities are not fighting the UOC but Christianity and Orthodoxy as a whole. The creation of the 'pocket' OCU did not lead to the triumph of Orthodoxy in Ukraine – many people, seeing the church conflicts, turn to agnosticism, atheism, paganism, or sectarianism," Bondarenko emphasized.

He also noted that fascism and Nazism pose a threat to Christian values, as they set man in opposition to God, which contradicts the foundations of the Christian faith.

As the UOJ reported, the head of Ukraine's State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelensky, stated that the state may restrict freedom of conscience or religion, even when national security is not at risk.
