Bishop Clement (Vecheria): Law enforcers should deal with officials provoking inter-religious crisis

Intelligence agencies should examine the statement of Andrei Parubiy, the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, about possible provocations during the cross procession, said the Head of the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bishop Clement in his interview to the channel "112 Ukraine". 

"The official reaction must not be just as a sign that the UOC does not accept and condemns such statements of Ukrainian politicians, but we have special services and authorities in Ukraine that should keep track of such statements of the politicians who incite inter-religious enmity, whose activities are threatening to further fuel existing sensitivities and to further destabilize the present tense and fragile situation in the country. Those special services and authorities should address the statement of Parubiy," said Bishop Clemens. 

"I think his statement today completely complies with all the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which allows the law enforcement to stop all attempts to foment sectarian strife and discrimination of citizens of Ukraine on the religious ground," concluded the Bishop. 

Recall, on July 11, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrei Parubiy said that the Russian government is preparing a provocation during the All-Ukrainian cross procession in Kiev. Parubiy stressed that not only civilians but also provocateurs with the banned symbols and symbols of the aggressor-country are heading for the Ukrainian capital.
