Media: One million people from both sides affected in the Ukraine-Russia war

According to The Wall Street Journal, the number of dead and wounded in the war in Ukraine on both sides has exceeded one million people. Ukrainian sources report that the country has lost around 80,000 soldiers killed and another 400,000 wounded, according to Strana. Earlier, President Zelensky stated in February that 30,000 soldiers had been killed.

Western intelligence services estimate Russia's losses as follows: nearly 200,000 soldiers killed and 400,000 wounded.

It is noted that Ukraine finds it more difficult to cope with such losses due to its significantly smaller population, but the long-term consequences will be devastating for both countries, given their already existing demographic challenges.

The publication also suggests that one reason President Putin might have started the war could be a desire to increase Russia's population by incorporating Ukrainians.

As reported by the UOJ, Ukraine ranks first in the world in mortality rate and last in birth rate, according to the latest data from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
