Greek Church not to let politicians into temples on the Feast of Orthodoxy

By the decision of the Synod of the Greek Church, on March 24, 2024, the Triumph of Orthodoxy, Greek politicians who voted to legalise same-sex marriages should not be allowed in the temples.

Thus, Archbishop Hieronymos and the Permanent Holy Synod decided to express their dissatisfaction with the government's decision to legalise same-sex marriages.

In addition, according to Greek media reports, Archbishop Hieronymos and members of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church will not participate in the traditional lunch that the President of Greece hosts every year on the Feast of Orthodoxy in honor of the members of the Synod.

Journalists, citing church sources, claim that "the ice has not melted" even after a phone call made last Saturday by Archbishop Hieronymos to the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to inform her of the Synod's decision.

At the same time, on 25 March, Archbishop Hieronymos will receive the President of the Republic at a doxology at the Metropolis of Athens.

However, according to reports in the media, the clergy is literally "seething" in relation to the deputies who voted for same-sex marriages. And this, it is believed, will affect the attitude towards politicians from the hierarchs and priests in the period before the European elections.

Earlier, the the UOJ wrote that Metropolitan Eusebios of Samos believes that the Church and the Orthodox faith are being persecuted today.
