Copies of 107 miraculous icons from Ukraine displayed in Poland
The exhibition was opened in the Polish city of Sokolovsko and was a part of the charitable project "Our Contribution", which operates at the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on the premises of 17th hospital in Kiev.
The exposition arrived in Poland at the invitation of the Wrocław Diocese of the Polish Orthodox Church and was presented in the conference hall of the Orthodox House in the honor of Holy Martyr Elizabeth. The celebrations on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition were attended by official representatives of local authorities, the clergy of the diocese and residents of the city.
Head of the Charitable Project, Protopriest Vladimir Kostochka, conveyed to all the attendees the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Onuphry, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.
On the eve of the feast of All Saints in the city of Sokolovsko, a procession was held, organized by the congregation of the local Orthodox church in the honor of Holy Archangel Michael. In it, the believers walked along with the icons presented at the exhibition "Ukraine is a House of the Blessed Virgin." The procession has been held for the first time since the existence of this temple, built in 1901. On behalf of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, priest Alexey Zoshchuk sent greetings and handed a copy of the recently published photo album, dedicated to the All-Ukrainian Cross Procession-2016 ”For Peace, Love, and Prayer for Ukraine” to the rector of the church.
During the exhibition, visitors had an opportunity to get familiar with the history and traditions having to do with 107 miraculous and local icons of the Mother of God, which are presented on display. The work of the exhibition was also accompanied by daily prayers near the icons. The priesthood of the Polish and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches together with the visitors of the exhibition prayed together for understanding and good-neighborly relations between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
The main one was a prayer for the long-awaited peace on the Ukrainian land.
Among numerous visitors to the exhibition were residents of Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, the Czech Republic and Germany. Representatives of other denominations also took an interest in the exhibition of the icons.
