The relics of St. Admiral Fyodor Ushakov arrived in Sevastopol

A shrine with the relics of the founder of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Fyodor Ushakov came from the Mordovian Sanaksar Monastery in Sevastopol, where it was brought in the cross procession to the Vladimir Cathedral in the Chersonese, reports Pravoslavie.RU.

The relics were met in Sevastopol at the monument to Prince Vladimir, and then solemnly taken to St. Vladimir's Cathedral at Cape Chersonese. The celebrations in Sevastopol ware attended by the rector of St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Chersonese Sergius Khalyuta, representatives of the command of the Black Sea Fleet, the military, residents of the city-hero.

On August 27 the relics will be transferred to another Vladimir's Cathedral, located on the north side of the city and known as the tomb of Russian admirals. The commemorative events were held along the route of the shrine with the relics. Then, the relics were delivered to the Crimea by road, where they were solemnly met in Kerch and Simferopol.

Recall Admiral Fyodor Ushakov commanded the Black Sea Fleet in 1790 - 1792 years, and in 1798 - 1800 he headed the naval forces of Russia in the Mediterranean Sea. During his military service Admiral did not suffer a single defeat, he did not lose a single ship in the fight, and none of his sailors and officers were captured. In 2001, Fyodor Ushakov was canonized as a righteous warrior.
